1. About Venezuela

Venezuela is located in the northeast of South America, near the Caribbean Sea. It holds the largest proven oil reserves in the world—over 500 billion barrels, far more than Saudi Arabia’s 298 billion.
Despite its vast oil resources, Venezuela’s oil production is relatively low due to high extraction costs and international sanctions. Because of its independent foreign policy, Venezuela has long been sanctioned by the U.S.

The U.S. sanctions include restrictions on shipping companies working with Venezuela. Violating these rules may result in being banned from the U.S. market or paying heavy tariffs.
In addition, the U.S. monitors global trade through the SWIFT system based on the U.S. dollar. Venezuela is excluded from this system.
Therefore, if a shipping company uses USD settlement, its accounts may be frozen, so non-dollar settlements are often adopted.

2. Booking Complexity and Payment Issues

Due to sanctions, the booking process to Venezuela is more complex and usually takes 2 days for approval.
We recommend booking at least 10 days in advance.
Late bookings may get stuck in the approval stage and affect space confirmation.
Since freight rates are often updated late, we suggest booking in advance to reserve space.
You can cancel the booking before container pickup without incurring cancellation fees.

As for payment, we now support USD payments, effectively solving past issues.

3. Route Overview

Currently, there are no direct shipping routes from China to Venezuela. All cargo must transit.
Common transshipment ports include Cristobal (Panama) and Kingston (Jamaica).
Most vessels depart from China on large ships (~10,000 TEU), and transfer to smaller ones (~2,500 TEU) en route to Venezuela.

Be aware: during the Panama Canal’s dry season (December to April), transit times may increase.
Cargo booked during this period may face delays.
Some slower routes involve three transshipments, but we won’t go into them.

4. Venezuelan Ports & Inland Transportation

• La Guaira – the closest port to the capital Caracas, also covered by our fast route.

We also provide service to smaller ports like Maracaibo, Guanta, El Guamache, and Guaranao.
Inland trucking from ports to Caracas is available, ensuring safe and timely delivery.
